金沢百万石まつり 開催概要とコースは？街中を優雅に行列する風景（”Kanazawa Hyakumangoku Festival”）

The Kaga Domain founder, Lord Maeda Toshiie, entered Kanazawa Castle on June 14, 1583 (Tensho 11), laying the foundation for Kanazawa. In commemoration of his great achievements, an event is held annually.

Every year, notable figures play the roles of Lord Toshiie and his wife, Omatsu-no-kata. Currently, the event is held on the first weekend of June, attracting around 400,000 visitors and participants each year, making it a bustling affair.

The Kanazawa Hyakumangoku Festival is the largest festival in Ishikawa Prefecture, held annually in June. This festival celebrates the achievements of Maeda Toshiie, the founder of the Kaga Domain, who laid the foundations of Kanazawa by entering Kanazawa Castle. Known for its historical and traditional significance, this event is a spectacular and vibrant celebration.

The festival begins with a grand parade through the city, set against the backdrop of the Tsuzumi-mon Gate at Kanazawa Station, a symbol of Ishikawa Prefecture. Participants dressed as mounted warriors resembling Maeda Toshiie and others in magnificent costumes captivate the audience with their majestic presence. This procession, as if transcending time, brings the splendor of the Edo period back to life in the modern era.

The Hyakumangoku procession route passes through the city center and enters Kanazawa Castle.

During the festival, many areas will be closed to traffic or have time restrictions. If a parking lot is adjacent to the procession route, you will not be able to park there.

When using navigation systems, be aware that they might direct you to roads that are not accessible during the event.

Park and Ride is recommended during the festival. Free parking lots will be available, so you can park your car and proceed to the event. The cost of transportation from the parking lots (such as buses) will be borne by the users. The fare is between 160 yen to 260 yen one way, depending on the parking location.
